The original visitor centre. A generous bequest, State Govt and shire grants enabled us to improve on this.

6/11/16 Official opening ceremony.
Opening ceremony speeches on a beautiful day.
Opened by Chair of Trust for Nature Max Ervin, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Regional Development and Tourism Danielle Green MP.
29/9/16 Internal fit out and external plumbing.
11/9/16 Roof, cladding, windows, plastering all progressing.
7/8/16 Framing now complete. Roof sheeting about to go on.
20/7/16 Roof it going on
18/6/16 Rammed earth walls are being erected.
28/5/16 The slab is poured. Plumbing is installed,

The Hon. Terry Mulder, MP and Minister for Transport and Roads announced funding assistance of $150,000 to help fund construction of a visitor centre for Mount Elephant. This comes from the State Government Regional Growth Fund.
The Corangamite Shire will contribute $50,000, and a bequest by Jack and Millie Borbidge will provide the rest.
The next step is to produce a planning brief for the architects.

SED and MECM members are conducting workshops with local community and stakeholders to establish the uses and support for a centre.
