Inclusions

(update 10/12/16)

The lava may collect bits of the crust as it comes up through the different layers. These layers may be very old or very recent. Some inclusions may be altered by the pressure, heat and cooling of the lava.

This appears to be granite. There are large granite areas north of a line between Derrinallum and Lismore.

Quartz crystals. The size of the crystals suggests that they crystallized slowly so may have formed before the eruption.

No idea what

Limestone from the layer below.

Calcite? at the entrance to a rabbit burrow.

The smooth outer surface indicates it may be water worn in a previous life before being ejected in the eruption.

Smooth sided sandstone? with early vescicular lava attached.

crystallized or included?
